Thanks for your patience and interest! My friend was able to send me the photos of the ceremony and afterwards last night.
To backtrack a bit, we found Betty Bonsal via the NYTimes piece about how all the NYC gays are going to Greenwich, CT to get married. Betty was featured in the story as the JOP who was eagerly performing a lot of those weddings. Having exchanged a few cheeky e-mails with Betty, who quickly adopted my moniker for her, "BOGWOG"-- Big Official Gay Wedding Officiant of Greenwich-- I decided she was definitely quirky and funny enough for us.

This photo says it all. On first glance, a completely proper Greenwich woman in a designer suit and perfectly coiffed hair with a giant sparkling sapphire and diamond ring on her finger, she quickly dispelled any impression that she might be staid or proper. It turns out her daughter is a dyke living a few blocks from us in Brooklyn, in a condo that I actually almost bought a few years ago.

After setting us at ease and making us laugh, she artfully struck a more serious tone and reminded us that we were about to make a lifelong commitement to one another that was actually LEGALLY recognized. We couldn't have been more ready.

The ceremony was lovely but the photos were not, so I will leave it to you to envision... but it was brief yet touching. I lost it a little, cried and giggled my way through my vows, unexpectedly nervous at how momentous the occasion itself was-- nothing at all like going to the DMV, though that is what we had joked it would be.

'Nuff said.

And our lovely friends took us out for a toast afterwards. Greewich is a funny place, incomparably preppy and WASPy. The only decent place we could find to eat was a roadside pan-asian cafe, but who cares? We were legal! Speedy, our designated driver, toasted with nonalcoholic beer.

We returned to Brooklyn with our friends, walked our dogs-- they have two 80-lb. beasts of their own, and they get along beautifully with our three-and-a half dogs, and love the rare occasion when we get to walk them together in a giant pack. And then we went out to celebrate again, with sushi.
Happy meets ever after.
Awwwww....I love weddings and the message they send to the world.
