While I was out....

I know I said it in words, but here's the pictoral cliff notes version: renovation, renovation, kitten, renovation, renovation. Done.

Super, super excited for a fabulous new bfp, (the phrase springs to mind: "PufferTwins-- ACTIVATE!") and hoping that others who are still waiting for theirs will find peace while they wait...

Got my pre-surgery testing done today. When I asked the nurse why the simple hysteroscopy had to be performed under general anaesthesia, she described the procedure as "pretty barbaric"-- I kid you not. Great. That makes me feel just great!

Whatever. I am happy because all my vital were excellent: pulse, 53; BP 96/56... and the nurse said, YOU are 36?! Bless her heart. I will take it even if it just flattery. I feel pretty confident about this surgery. No cutting, so I expect the recovery time to be shorter than last time, though I am not making weekend plans anyway and am trying to do all the heavy lifting- laundry and vacuuming-- today to get it out of the way. I have a great book (Michale Pollan, In Defense of Food) and I plan on finishing it this weekend, nothing more.

So assuming all goes well on Friday and I actually wake up after the surgery, I will be set to start with IUI #1 in July! It is finally going to happen!

In other exciting news, my mother called me on Sunday, asked if I want to go to Ghana with her in November. Ummmm... YES! I haven't been exotic traveling since Nepal in 07, so I am due for a big trip. Because my then I will have either sold my co-op or Ex will have moved back in and taken over the payments, I will have the money to go. The worst-case scenario is that I will be pregnant and traveling with my mother (who I suppose I would have to tell if that were the case)...which is also kind of the best case scenario, too.

Unfortunately, gf will have to stay behind and tend to the household, but I promised to take tons of photos for her. I am looking into spending a couple of days with a chimpanzee rehab center. Scoping out future employment options for us while I am there.

All is pretty good these days. Let's hope I can keep this attitude throughout the ttc process.

Hey! If you haven't sold your place in PS yet I know a fabulous queer realtor that's doing well dispite(sp) the economy.She owns her own business in Carroll Gardens.

The data thus far

October 4, 2010. 30 weeks+ and going well. Hard to believe that the IUIs and chemical pegnancy and betas all actually added up to this: aching ribs and sore back and huge belly and 9 weeks to an REAL baby.

April 22, 2010. Back to RE for followup. Good stong HB. Definite blobbiness observed. Measuring 6w5d +/- 4d-- but there is definite growth from the OB scan, so I believe this is just measurement error and difference in machines. Dr. assure me it looks great, and I agree. First feeling of "OMG, I think I might be pregnant for real." I almost graduate but she wants me bakc to look at my superzsized ovaries one last time.

April 19 2010. First OB appt. Normal, orb-shaped sac, nice HB, "about 140". Measuring 6w5d +/- 2d.

April 15 2010. Heartbeat. Measuring 6w1d +/- 4d. "Irregular sac".

April 8, 2010: Beta #3 2699 @21dpo (49h doubling); p4>20; E2 rising. ONE gestational sac. Orangish spotting 12 h after scan, changing to brownish. Oy, let the panic begin.

April 5 2010: Beta #2 990 @18dpo; p4 >20; E2 638. Doubling time: 38.91. Solid so far!

April 1 2010: BFP! Beta 179 @ 14dpo. Go Jacques!

March 19 2010, ovulation confirmed. Start progesterone 3/21.
March 18 2010, CD12: 2:30 p.m. IUI#3 31.5h post trigger; 3 22-24 follies, lining 7.76, 26m sperm in sample, 55% motility, all other scores good. Followed by napping and acupuncture.

March 17 2010, CD11: 8 a.m. trigger; IUI scheduled for CD12 at 2 p.m. (30h post trigger) THREE follicles, 2 @ 20x17; 1 @ 17 round. Lining 7.76. C'mon Jacques.

March16 2010, CD10: 150 more Follis.tim, no trigger.

Mar 15 2010, CD9: 2 follicles L (15x16; 20x15); 1 co-dominant follicle right (15x15) and a tiny one R. Given trigger shot to take home and instructions to call after 1 for instructions on whether to use it or not.

Mar 12 2010, CD6 3rd day FSH= 10.4; 2 good folllies, 1.1-1.3, one R, one L.

Mar 9 2010, CD 3 b/w & ultrasound. Doc says we will try to replicate last almost-successful cycle; 2 x 75 IU follist.im/day. $2000 at RE; $815 to CCB.

Mar 7 2010, CD 1; TTC #3 New donor.

FEB 2010 Cycle out due to early miscarriage ^%$#%&

Feb 4: Beta 17.4 (miscarriage confirmed)

Feb 2 Went in for CD3 monitoring, came out with a beta: 52. (Miscarriage presumed)

Jan 30 16DPO Full Flo

Jan 28 14DPO- Neg pee stick (no blood test)

Jan 25 11DPO- light spotting

Jan 14 10 CD 12 IUI#2 34h post trigger; 77m TOTAL sperm; 31m motile in sample. Three follicles, 18, 18, 19.

Jan 12 10 cd10; u/s 2-3 triggerable R, 1 L, was given HCG trigger to take home and shoot myself @ 10 p.m., come in tomorrow for u/s, poss. IUI tomorrow (12H) or Fri (36H)

Jan 11 10 CD9; u/s: 3 follies R, 1 L; lining "good". Back tomorrow for probable trigger; IUI prob on 1/13.

Jan 8 10 CD6 paid $1960 to RE- no more insurance, not for this cycle anyway- 1 good follicle L; unclear 2-3 on R.

Jan 5 10 3rd Day u/s; Begin Cycle #2. 150 IU Folli$tim. Doctor optimistic, said last cycle timing was perfect. Agrees that if no BFP by Cycle 3, we're heading straight to IVF.

Jan 2 10 BFN #1. (CD1 is Jan 3; AF came at 11 p.m.)

Dec 19 09 IUI#1; Donor #1. 91 million sperm/cc (0.4 cc specimen); 56% motility. All went smoothly, 24 h post hcg. Three large follicles +... lining was "good". Begin tww #1.

Dec 18 09 Back down to three follicles of trigger-able size, about 19 mm. 2 right, 1 left. HCG shot 7 a.m. Going in for IUI 7 a.m. Dec. 19 (24 h)

Dec 16 09 Four follicles, two on each side, roughly similar in size. Getting close to insem #1.

Dec 14 09 CD3 bloodwork: FSH 9.7; Estradiol 34; two co-dominant folicles on right; one on left. Continue Folli$tim, 150 IU/day.

Dec 10 09 Doctor says ovaries, uterus looking good. Start F0lli$tim injections, 150 IU/day.

Dec. 8 09 CD1/TTC1

Nov. 09 cycle missed because of the early arrival of AF while I was still in Ghana :(

Aug, Sept, Oct 09: On pre-Ghana break. Malaria meds and ttc do not mix. Gearing up for make-a-baby lockdown starting in Nov/Dec.

July 2 09 RE appt: sx #2 revealed extensive scarring that needed additional removal; TTC on hold till late Aug/early Sept cycle.

June 09: Bloodwork: FSH: 9.7; LH: 3.0; Estr: 34; Thyroid all normal.

Surgery #2 to check success/scarring of sx #1

Jan- May: Renovation nightmare .

Jan 09: start folic acid, pre-nats.

Oct 08: Surgery #1- laparascopic resection of uterine septum. Results: miminal endometriosis, small cyst on Left FT removed; ovaries "involuted and fibrotic", but reserve "good".

Sept 08: HSG; septum confirmed

Aug 08: Bloodwork normal: Estr:31; FSH: 9.2; LH: 2.8; Scheduled hystersalpingogram (HSG)

July 08: First appt with Dr.B, big RE specialist in town; sonogram: good ovaries, possible septum of uterus
